Job Summary
The Ford Communications team is going through an exciting transition as we execute a new Framework for the Future to support the Company’s Winning Aspiration. The Communications Strategy & L&D Manager will serve as the “Chief of Staff” to the Vice President, Global Communications, acting as a strategist, advisor, and point of contact. The right candidate will play a key role in prioritizing and streamlining activities within the Communications team. He or she will also contribute to the success of the organization by leading Learning & Development for the skill team, ensuring our team members have the resources to develop the skills and leadership necessary to be world-class communicators in a changing internal and external environment.
Responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of a strategic business planning process, including the establishment and tracking against specific organizational objectives, that supports and ensures accomplishment of the key business objectives of Global Communications
Define, develop and run skill team governance (Business Plan Reviews, Special Attention Reviews, etc.)
Project manage and facilitate employee related events (e.g. Town Halls, Off sites, Development Days) as required
As a change agent, lead the development and implementation of aligned business process changes within Communications, utilizing cross-functional teams when appropriate
Meeting facilitation and representation on behalf of the VP, Communications
Lead Learning & Development for Communications; working closely with HR and global L&D Centers of Excellence:
Assess learning and development needs of the skill team, and develop strategies to close skill gaps.
Work with internal providers and external vendors to design and develop learning solutions
Act as curator of external learning provisions and promote usage within Ford as appropriate.
Facilitate implementation of competency assessment enhancements and the development of competency related training.
In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities outlined above, the individual in this position will also be expected to complete various special projects that arise which impact the Communications organization.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
7+ years experience in Communications, PR, Journalism, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
Able to navigate in rapidly changing business environment and high degree of ambiguity
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Experience in Learning & Development, training, or instructional design
Experience in Corporate Communications
