Ford’s Safety Electronics team designs and develops hardware and functional models that provide Best in Class behavior for features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, Active Park Assist and 360 Camera Systems.

We are seeking seasoned professionals who can contribute to our efforts with experience in the development of sensors, ECUs, models and software. This position is focused on the system engineering and system interfaces of the Active safety and Driver assistance features, implemented through feature models, and integrated into a central Electronics Control Unit which interfaces to multiple radars and cameras. It could also involve other elements of the process because we are seeking to add high quality people to the team rather than trying to squeeze engineers into a specific role.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the system engineering elements for the next generation project
  • Conduct system design reviews with relevant components and subcomponents
  • Engineer and document system interfaces with the system suppliers and ford feature leads
  • Integrate and debug system hardware and features on development vehicles.
  • Support development drives to prove out system hardware and sensors


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Controls Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience in hardware development


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Controls Engineering
  • Understanding of Automotive design processes (FMEA, DVPR, requirements management, diagnostics communication networks etc) and automotive Design and Release
  • Understanding of embedded software design and development
  • Control algorithm development using Matlab, Simulink or equivalent
  • Software architecture, modular application development with Model/software, strongly embedded experience, developing production algorithm experience
  • Experience in Functional safety
  • 1+ years of experience as an Applications engineer for active safety systems such as ACC, AEB, LKA, TJA, Collision Avoidance
