2018 PD- Automotive Technical Design Intern
Ford Design is Ford Motor Company’s global creative design organization with eight design studios throughout the world. Ford design studio engineers work collaboratively using the very latest computer technology to design and engineer high quality and exciting products for global markets.
Ford design studio engineers work under the umbrella of Design Technical Operations (DTO), and apply their skills to assist the design team with vehicle exteriors, interiors, and components. Studio engineers use a variety of digital tools to create 3D digital design validation models. Studio engineers interface with creative designers and program engineering teams to develop concept designs and feasible production products.
DTO Intern candidates are qualified college students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in some combination of transportation design / industrial design / and or engineering, minimum GPA of 3.0 and 0-3 years of relevant work experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate exceptional design creativity, strong problem solving skills, a superior ability to visually communicate through sketches and renderings, an ability to think three-dimensionally and an understanding of proportions and form. An aptitude for creatively solving feasibility issues that ultimately support the delivery of the design theme is highly valued.
Ford design studio engineers use Microsoft Windows based computer systems with software applications that include, Alias Automotive 3D, CATIA, and ICEM/surf. Knowledge of these tools is highly desired.
DTO Intern's will experience working in multiple design studios with seasoned professionals and will have diverse design opportunities.
