Job Description We are looking for Power Electronics Engineers to specifically work on Traction Inverter design and validation for the e-Drive systems in next generation electrified vehicles. You will guide and oversee all inverter design, package, integration, and key component sizing throughout the product development process. You will also work closely with suppliers on design evaluation and validation of the inverter hardware in order to meet Ford product specification and requirements. You will be involved in benchmarking of existing inverter technologies as well as development of new solutions for next generation designs and optimization. Our diverse HEV Product Development Team – situated in Dearborn Michigan - is comprised of HEV product strategists, researchers, hardware designers, software designers, test and calibration engineers, prototypes, and project managers. Together our team works to understand our changing world, identify new opportunities, and take action to design and innovate for the future of mobility and sustainability– Ford’s vehicles and surrounding experiences.
Position Duties:
Responsible for traction inverter design for e-drive systems, specifically focusing on power conversion circuit design, analysis, and key component sizing
Work closely with suppliers on design evaluation and validation of the inverter hardware passive components in order to meet Ford product specification and requirements
Coordinate and conduct hardware testing in the lab to verify and validate inverter passive components functionality and reliability
Investigate power electronics technologies and solutions and their applications for xEVs
Ensure overall quality of project solutions throughout the design process
Share and present work to cross-functional teams and executive leadership
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering
3+ years of hands-on or research experience in simulation, design, and test of power electronics passive components (power inductor, film capacitors, busbars)
Preferred Qualification:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with specialty in power electronics
Good working knowledge high voltage high power inverter/converter design and validation
Good understanding of active power device/module and passive component such capacitor and inductor design and sizing
Hands-on experience of magnetic component design is a plus
Knowledge of wide band gap devices such as SiC and GaN is another plus
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
