News CenterRAIN DELAYS PENNSYLVANIA 500 TO MONDAY
BOBBY LABONTE – No. 96 DLP Ford Fusion – ARE THERE WORSE PLACES TO BE ON A RAINY DAY? “Usually, a lot of places, when it’s raining, you’re not too committed to not being able to leave or go do something else. But here, on a day like today, it’s Hurry-Up-And-Wait for everybody. It’s a tough one because everybody wants to get it in because there are a lot of people that have driven a long ways and planned for weeks for this weekend, and you hate to have it not happen, but at the same time, when it looks like this, it’s just kind of rough to endure it when you’re here waiting for it to either rain more or rain less.”
IS IT MORE DIFFICULT TO ENDURE RAIN ON A SUNDAY AS OPPOSED TO EARLIER IN THE RACE WEEKEND? AT LEAST EARLIER, IT GIVES THE TEAM A CHANCE TO TAKE A BIT OF A BREAK, BUT ON A SUNDAY, IT JUST MAKES THE WEEKEND LONGER. “What’s tough, everybody’s got a schedule for the week and everybody’s got plans, and they’re all changed right now, and we can’t those days back. Everybody’s got to change their stuff. You might be flying out tomorrow; you might have a 6 a.m. flight that you might have to change. It’s j\bad in that way, but in a sport where we can’t race in the rain and when you’re out racing outdoors, there’s nothing you can do about it.”
DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion – “The bad part about a rain like today is just that it’s just in and out all day, and you can’t predict and plan or prepare for anything. The term Hurry-Up-And-Wait is very true. It’s one thing if you get started and a rain shower comes during the race, at least you’ve got some stuff to think about to do on your cars and some strategy. But here you just can’t ever quite get going and get into a rhythm, so, yes, rain delays like this are tough. Certainly, we all want to race for several reasons, but for the most part, for all of the fans sitting up there in the stands. We have the comfort of a TV and a trailer and some company, but they’re sitting out in the elements. But, it is what it is, we can’t do anything about it.”
JAMIE McMURRAY – No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion – IS RAIN AT THE TRACK BOTHERSOME FOR YOU, OR IS IT SOMETHING THAT YOU JUST TAKE IN STRIDE? “I just think being around another day won’t be fun for anybody, but this certainly can’t be as bad as Michigan two years ago when we were there until Tuesday.”
