SPRINT ALL-STAR RACE
CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (Finished 21st) – “First of all, thank you so much to all the fans. We didn’t with the million bucks, but whatever I made tonight will be donated to Speedway Children’s Charity and it’s an honor to be voted in. Our Aflac Fusion was not very good. We made some pretty big changes and were just gonna go for it on that last restart, but the problem is I think everybody was going for it. I think I had the wreck missed, or at least I was gonna be able to stop, but somebody was pushing me from behind and then I pushed the guys in front of me, so who knows what was going on back there. It was just a wild night. I’m gonna go back to the motorhome and watch the finish. I don’t have my satellite hooked up yet, but I’ve got one of those new 4G phones and my wife is in there watching it on that Sprint phone, so I’m gonna go watch the finish. We’ll be at the Hall of Fame ceremony tomorrow, but it was just a wild race.”
GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Finished 9th) – HOW DID YOUR ADJUSTMENTS FROM THE SHOWDOWN WORK IN THE ALL-STAR RACE? “Pretty good. We’ve got a little ways to go, but I’ve got some ideas. We were really fast there at the end, but it’s just track position. We got a penalty on that two-tire stop. I think we would have either been in the wreck or top three or four.” DO YOU FEEL MORE OPTIMISTIC ABOUT NEXT WEEK? “Yeah. It just feels like we need probably two or three more tests. We’re honing in on a bunch of what I’m gonna call random stuff. We’ve got a lot of different stuff here and we kind of don’t know what the adjustments will do right now, so we’re building on it and learning and will continue to work down that road.” CAN YOU QUANTIFY HOW BIG THIS WAS TO MAKE THE ALL-STAR RACE AND GET THOSE LAPS TO LEARN FOR NEXT WEEK? “It was huge for us. Being able to get into the All-Star Race helped us a lot with this car because we got a lot of adjustment both ways and we’ve got a good idea where we’re at right now, too.”
MATT KENSETH – No. 17 Crown Royal Black Ford Fusion (Finished 8th) – “It was awful. We ran last all night and they just kept wrecking and got us in a spot there to have a couple good restarts, but then we didn’t get any tires and the guys all passed us anyway. There weren’t any other cars out there, so it was embarrassing.” IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN LEARN FOR NEXT WEEK AFTER A NIGHT LIKE THIS? “You can learn what not to do. This is how we ran the whole entire test for two days and only brought one car and not a lot of pieces, so we’ll just go back and look at it and keep trying to get better.”
