Ford India Starts 2012 with More Than 10,000 Sales and Export Vehicles

  • Ford India showed strong sales and export performances in January, with combined domestic wholesale and export vehicles sales of 10,789 units, continuing the company's  strengthened position in the competitive India market

NEW DELHI, India, 1 February, 2012 – Following the global preview of the Ford EcoSport by Ford President and Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally in New Delhi last month, Ford India continues its drive to go further in 2012 with strong January sales.
 
Despite an increasingly challenging market, Ford India sold 10,789 wholesale and export units in January, demonstrating sustained and stable growth.  Domestic wholesale figures were 9,137 units for January while export figures also remained high, with 1,652 vehicles exported during the month.
 
According to Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India, January's monthly sales and export figures are an indicator of Ford India's sustainable, long-term growth in India and continued reinforcement of the Company's aggressive expansion plans in the subcontinent.
 
“During the first week 2012, Ford's global CEO - Alan Mulally unveiled a global product here in India, reinforcing our long-term commitment here.  We’ve begun 2012 with solid January sales and export deliveries despite challenges in the market, and are further committed to bringing more of the high-quality, fuel-efficient, technology-laden, affordable vehicles to India from Ford's vast global product portfolio.  We are thankful so many customers in India appreciate the value of the vehicles we are offering, and this year we continue to focus on improving our performance and service on behalf of our customers."
 
Ford India continues to go further.  Last month Ford Motor Company CEO Alan Mulally attended the global unveiling at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012 of the all new Ford EcoSport, underscoring Ford India's commitment to bring eight new vehicles to India by mid-decade.
 
The total number of countries to which the popular Ford Figo is exported increased to 33 countries this month with the commencement of exports to Jordan.
 
To ensure world-class customer service, Ford India has been expanding its sales and service network across the country. The company's dealer network has increased to more than 200 outlets in more than 110 cities in India.
