OAKVILLE, Ontario, February 2, 2010 – Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited kicked off the new year with a sales increase of 6 per cent in January with retail sales up 16 per cent. This marks the company's eighth straight month of retail sales gains and fifteen consecutive months of market share increases. January saw car sales rise 1 per cent, truck sales increase 7 per cent and Lincoln sales achieve a 59 per cent increase.

"The auto industry has definitely experienced a turbulent start to the year," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "But as a testament to the strength of our new product, Ford grew retail sales in January in spite of challenging industry headwinds."

Positive results across the Lincoln lineup helped to boost sales for Ford of Canada with MKZ, MKX and Navigator all showing strong sales gains compared to last January.

To keep the sales momentum going, the company has launched the 'Ford SYNC™ My Ride Event.' During this event customers can receive a SYNC media system at no extra charge with the purchase or lease of most new 2010 Ford vehicles, as well as 0 per cent APR purchase financing for up to 72 months or up to $8,000 in price adjustments on select new 2010 Ford vehicles. Offers vary by model.

"The SYNC My Ride Event comes at a perfect time since most provinces have a new law making it illegal to drive with cell phones or entertainment devices in hand," said Mondragon. "By offering SYNC for free, consumers are able to stay connected while keeping their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. In fact, more than half of the vehicles sold in Ford of Canada showrooms for January were equipped with SYNC."
