Edwards Leads The Way For Ford Teams At Infineon Raceway

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (Finished 13th) – “I got into the 6 and that’s the bad thing. I was racing really hard with him, but we didn’t expect to run that well. We were really slow in practice.” WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THE DOUBLE-FILE RESTARTS? “I didn’t think they were good. I think single-file would have been better here, but that’s what we had. It was a long day, but I guess we did alright in the points, so that’s good.”

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (Finished 33rd) – “It was a bad end to the day of what could have been a great run. Still, I have a lot of confidence going to New Hampshire, but that just seems to be the way our season has been. We haven’t had a lot of good luck.” SO YOUR TESTING HAS HELPED ON ROAD COURSES? “Yeah, I think overall experience has helped. I mean, the third time coming out here you should be better than the second time and I expect the fourth time coming out here we’ll be better than we were this time, but we legitimately had a top-10 car and we just got it taken away from us with a racing incident at the end.” WHAT ABOUT THE DOUBLE-FILE RESTARTS? “It was actually better than I thought it would have been. There was a lot of give-and-take, and certainly no one wants to wreck their car, but if you just get a few guys that don’t give much, it’s just tough to run up front all day and get caught, but you know that stuff is gonna happen. It’s usually a pretty good cycle and we’ll be on the good end of it one day, but it’s par for the course this year. We haven’t had a lot of good luck thrown our way.” WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END. YOU WERE SEVENTH AND FINISHED 33RD? “We were going pretty good on the restarts and Harvick squeezed us just a little and I ran my left-side tires out in the dirt. I lost two or three spots, which that’s just racing, and then Carl got into the back of us and we spun it out. We came and got four tires and then the green-white-checkered people were running through the course, over the grass, over the curbs, it was just crazy. We just brought it back home in one piece and I’m proud we finished.”

JAMIE MCMURRAY – No. 26 Irwin Ford Fusion (Finished 14th) – “It was not a good day. We had a sub-average day and the pit strategy didn’t work out for us. We were the last car without tires and just got way behind. The restarts were just wild. Everybody runs into each other and doesn’t really race. They just drive over their head, so it was frustrating. It was exciting, I’m sure, for the fans, but the guys just don’t pass right. They just run into each other.”

BORIS SAID – No. 08 U.S. Chrome Ford Fusion (Finished 24th) – “I feel bad. We had a top-five car, no problem, and I let the team down. I sped on pit road leaving that lost us so much track position. We were coming back through the field and I got up to like 15th and then somebody tagged me again right at the end. Those double-file restarts, they were really fun, but I got spun out once and that was just part of the show. But not doing it for so long, I made a mistake on pit road and that cost us a top-five car and maybe even a chance for the win. We had a really good car. We were just cruising in third place, no problem, and things were looking good.” WHAT WAS IT LIKE ON THOSE RESTARTS? “It was intense. They were a riot. It was just chaos – a free-for-all. Unfortunately, I don’t know who tagged me on the last one in turn seven, but they spun me around and I had to let the whole pack go by. We were done then.”
