CARL EDWARDS (4TH), MATT KENSETH (8TH) GET TOP-10 FINISHES AT DAYTONA

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (finished 4th) – “Tonight was great. I’ve got to thank Subway and all of the folks that supported us – Aflac, Ford. That last sprint to the finish, I was really concerned about Kyle. I saw the fight side of his car lift off the ground, he hit the fence. Man, that’s a hard hit. But, I guess, it’s exciting. The fans were all pumped up about it, but I was real nervous for him. I’m just glad we got through there and nobody hit him – I hope nobody hit him a second time. It was just a wild event.”

WHAT ABOUT THE TIRES? IT SEEMED LIKE THE FIELD COULD STRING OUT A LITTLE BIT. “Goodyear almost brought the perfect tire. It was really great last night; tonight, it’s coming apart a little bit, a little bit too much heat, but they were real close with the tire. If they can get that right to where the tires gives up like that and we can start racing and slide-jobbin’ – that’s fun. I really had a good time tonight – other than the tires blowing out, it was perfect.”

YOU WERE LINED UP BEHIND MATT KENSETH ON THE FINAL RESTART AND WERE TALKING TO EACH OTHER ON THE RADIO. CAN YOU TAKE US THROUGH THE FINAL LAPS? “He was having trouble getting into fourth gear, so I just pushed him as long as I could, and then Montoya got a huge run and slammed me and I had to go around Matt. We just did everything we could to make sure we both got a good finish.”

ON HIS NIGHT. “It was all right. My Subway guys did a really good job. I want to thank all of those guys – there’s a bunch of Subway folks here,a nd a great group of Aflac folks, and, man, I would’ve loved to win for Ford Motor Company, but, man, that was a wild finish. I saw the 18 car turn right, the right-side tires lifted off the ground and he hit the fence, and I thought, ‘Ah, man.’ I just yanked the wheel left and drove the grass and hoped I didn’t hit him. But, it was a crazy, crazy finish. I thought I wanted to be up there racing with those guys, then I saw that and I was just fine with where I was at.”

MATT KENSETH – No. 17 R+L Carriers Ford Fusion (finished 8th) – ON THE LAST FEW LAPS AFTER THE LAST RESTART. “A lot happened. We had pretty good last lap. I don’t know what all went down behind me. We were all single file and Carl [Edwards] was pushing me and those other guys went high, and I think somebody must’ve got under Carl and he got high behind me and I lost my push from both sides. They lined up and got a run on me, and I lost my push, and then Carl went by me like you’ve got to do at the end of the race.”

JAMIE McMURRAY – No. 26 Irwin Marathon Ford Fusion (finished 11th) – “We had a pretty good car, we just never really got our track position. We got quite a ways up there, like seventh or eighth, and had a flat tire and had to go to the back. But, not a bad day.”

DAVID RAGAN — No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (finished 13th) – “Our UPS Ford was fast and we were able to overcome some adversity. That’s just restrictor-plate racing at Daytona. Kurt Busch and I touched there and we spun on the back straightaway and knocked around our fenders a little bit and lost some spots. But our UPS pit crew was quick and we were able to get most of those spots back. Our finish doesn’t show just how well our car was tonight and how well we could have run. If you make a small mistake or bad decision on which lane to take, it can cost you. That caused us to lose a few spots and it just took us a while to get back up through the field. It’s a 13th-place finish and we should get some points off of that but it’s not quite as good as we could have been.”

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M / Scotch-Brite Ford Fusion (finished 18th) – YOU STARTED IN THE BACK AND IT LOOKS LIKE YOU COULD PASS TWO-THIRDS OF THE FIELD. “Yeah, I could. Our car was really good. It wasn’t any good taking off on the green, the balance just wasn’t quite right, but overall, it was a pretty good car. I’m pretty happy with it. I just got shuffled out there at the end. I figured we could be 10th or 12th, but I just picked the wrong lane, probably. That’s the difference between 10th and 18th.”

WAS THE TRACK SLICK BECAUSE OF THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY? OR, WAS IT JUST ANOTHER NIGHT HERE? “Just another night. The track was pretty slick, but I thought it was decent.”
