New Ford Fiesta receives coveted What Car? "Car of the Year" Award |
The new Ford Fiesta has been declared 'the perfect car for now' by the leading UK-based car magazine What Car?, as it names the Fiesta 1.25i Zetec the Car of the Year 2009. The new Fiesta was praised inside and out, as What Car? indicated that no other supermini got close to its 'look at me' factor and called it the most complete small car they have ever tested. The new Fiesta is the first product of Ford’s new global product development process. European production of the new Fiesta began last year, while production for Asian markets began earlier this month. A version for launch in North America is planned for 2010. more...

PowerShift transmission to set new standard for efficiency, drive quality |
Ford announced it will introduce an advanced dual-clutch PowerShift six-speed transmission in 2010 as the company targets best in class or among the best fuel economy with every new vehicle it introduces in North America. The PowerShift dry-clutch transmission will deliver the fuel efficiency of a manual gearbox with the convenience and ease of a premium automatic transmission. The result is reduced fuel consumption by up to 9 percent depending on the application, compared to traditional automatic four-speed transmissions. Additional benefits include superior mechanical efficiency and durability over wet clutches; a nearly 30 pounds weight savings than the four-speed automatic transmission on today’s Ford Focus; and improved shift quality, launch feel and overall drive dynamic. Ford also has committed that almost 100 percent of its transmissions will be advanced six-speed gearboxes by 2013. more...

Having two special needs children, Matt and Blasia Drumm were forced to sell their only means of transportation, making it difficult and costly to take their sons to doctor appointments and visit their eldest son who was attending a military academy in Virginia. After the reveal of their new home, the Drumms were astonished when presented with a new 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid – America’s most fuel efficient mid-size sedan – with a certified 41 mpg rating in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, topping the Toyota Camry Hybrid by 8 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway. more...
