David N. Alden was appointed president of Ford ASEAN, and Sales & Service Thailand in 2007, based at Ford’s Asia Pacific & Africa's regional headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand.
Alden is responsible for the management of integrated operations across Ford's ASEAN markets - including Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam - to ensure their expansion as a single, cross-functional entity that fully leverages Ford's product, and human and capital resources, for maximum efficiencies and performance.
Prior to his current role, Alden served as vice president of Marketing, Sales & Service Operations, Asia Pacific & Africa, responsible for all marketing, sales and service strategies for the 12 regional markets. This included product marketing, brand alignment, marketing, sales and service, vehicle personalization, customer service satisfaction, dealer representation, training and sales reporting for the Asia Pacific and Africa organization.
Alden has held a number of senior roles in Ford Motor Company, including the position of Executive Assistant to the President of Ford Division, USA, in addition to being the Dealer Relations Manager. Alden was also the Regional Sales Manager for Lincoln Mercury based in Chicago covering a large portion of the Midwestern United States, and served as the Marketing Manager for the Western US and Regional Operations.
Alden began his career with the Ford Division Philadelphia Region in 1978. After completion of a rotation of regional assignments, he moved to the Divisions Marketing Office in Detroit in 1985. Among his responsibilities was the Festiva Marketing Plans coordination that included the launch of Festiva in 1987. He then became General Zone Manager with the Ford Division Chicago Region.
Alden possesses extensive experience in sales and marketing, as well as strong understanding of the Asia-Pacific region. In 1991, in Alden's first assignment in Asia Pacific, he served as the Market Planning Manager for Ford Lio Ho in Taiwan, where he oversaw market research, brand positioning and marketing strategy for Ford's operations in Taiwan.
Alden went on to serve as Regional Director, Asia Pacific Programs, residing in Tokyo, Japan. In this position he was responsible for Ford sales and market development in South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and 22 other Direct Sales Markets.
Alden has a B.A. in Economics from Connecticut College in New London and an MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He and his wife Anne have four children.
