FORD F-150 SVT RAPTOR R TO RUN “BEST IN THE DESERT” SERIES IN 2009, PROVING DURABILITY AND RELIABILITY

Ford Racing and Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) announced today that the F-150 SVT Raptor R, the same truck that finished third in class at the 41st SCORE Tecate Baja 1000, will run in the 2009 "Best In The Desert" race series. The truck will be driven by veteran Ford truck racers and former “Rough Riders” Rob MacCachren and Steve Olliges. The privately funded team will run all five points races for 2009 in the Raptor R to continue testing the durability of the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor and its production components.

Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales were down 39 percent in January versus a year ago, however, Ford Motor Company sales analyst George Pipas says, Ford F-Series Truck and Fusion mid-size sedan, paced Ford to a fourth consecutive month of retail market share increases. This marks the first time since 1995 Ford has achieved a retail market share increase four-months in a row.

STRONG F-SERIES, FUSION SALES DRIVE FORD TO HIGHER RETAIL SHARE FOR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH

Ford’s F-Series truck and Fusion mid-size sedan paced Ford to a fourth consecutive month of retail market share increases. Ford estimates its share of the January retail market was 12.7 percent, up 0.3 point versus a year ago. This marks the first time since 1995 Ford has achieved a retail market share increase four months in a row.

Andreas Schamel was appointed Managing Director of the European Ford Research Center based in Aachen, Germany, as well as Chief Engineer Powertrain Research & Advanced Engineering Europe effective February 1st, 2009. In addition to his position as managing director, he will assume the lead role as site manager of the Ford Research Center Aachen and have overall responsibility for the operational business.

In February 2009, Professor Dr. Pim van der Jagt was appointed Managing Director of the Ford Research Center Aachen. In addition to this role, he keeps his position as Executive Technical Leader for Vehicle Dynamics which he has held since 2007. In this role, he has assumed the responsibility for all vehicle dynamics technologies worldwide and cross brand. This includes the development and implementation of active safety systems into the Ford products.
