Latino Students Expand their Science Studies

The overall educational achievements of the Latino community greatly depend on the education and leadership development of Latino students. We work with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) through the Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies (Ford PAS) to develop a series of educational service centers and support Latino students.

Educational Support for Latino Youth

In collaboration with LULAC, we are implementing the LULAC Ford PAS Science Corps program through the LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC). These programs are designed to provide 150 female and minority students in the eighth grade the opportunity to study science. The program format consists of presentations, mentoring, labs and field trips. It is expected that 150 Latino students will participate in this program during 2007.

Supporting Key Events that Reach More than 15,000 People

Our support also extends to the LULAC National Convention and the LULAC National Women's Conference. These important events bring together business, community and political leaders to discuss important issues affecting Latinos and Latino women. These events unite more than 15,000 people each year.

Through our contributions to LULAC, the U.S. Latino community can achieve educational success, develop its next generation of leaders, and address important issues that affect all Latinos.
