LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19, 2008 – With four 2010 equipped Mustangs on display at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, Ford Racing is showing off just what the Mustang is capable of delivering – high-performance customization options for every enthusiast.
America’s original muscle car has endless opportunities for customization with Ford Racing performance parts. With the 2010 model ushering in the next chapter of Mustang, Ford Racing is ready to serve enthusiasts with a full line of performance modifications that are track-inspired, ready-to-install and complete with warranty performance modifications from the factory.
“Mustang is more than a car – it’s a way of life. No two Mustangs are alike because Mustang is the most customized and modified car in America,” said Brian Wolfe, Ford Racing Technology director. “Whether it’s drag racing, road racing, drifting, club events or just a daily driver, we at Ford help enthusiasts create their own ‘my Mustang’ story.”
Mustangs on display during Tuesday’s reveal event include:
- A V-6 convertible in Kona Blue with the V-6 Ford Racing Handling Package and Ford Racing Short Throw Shifter
- A GT coupe in Torch Red with the GT Ford Racing Handling Package
- A GT coupe in Red Candy with the GT Ford Handling Package and Ford Racing 400 HP Polished Supercharger
- A GT convertible in Sterling Gray with the GT Ford Racing Handling Package, Shaker Hood, Ford Racing Short Throw Shifter, Ford Racing X-Pipe, Ford Racing Axle Back Mufflers, Ford Racing Shorty Headers and Ford Racing Differential Cover
The Ford Racing Handling Package lowers the center of gravity for increased vehicle handling at higher speeds but also provides increased chassis strength because of the front and rear anti-roll bars and strut tower brace. This package allows for a customer to road race their Mustang, while not sacrificing the comfort of daily driving.
Reminiscent of the muscle car era, the Ford Racing Short Throw Shifter is functional and stylish, and reduces the effort needed to shift gears by 32 percent. The Ford Racing X-Pipe provides a raspier exhaust note without sacrificing horsepower and torque, and the Ford Racing Axle Back Mufflers provide a deeper, throatier sound while increasing exhaust flow.
Ford Racing Shorty Headers are nine pounds lighter than stock exhaust manifolds with better exhaust flow. The stronger and lighter Ford Racing Differential Cover has load bolts that provide additional support for the differential bearing caps, increasing ring and pinion gear life.
Enhancing the look of the engine while providing a horsepower increase, the Ford Racing Supercharger is a simple way to increase the power level of a Mustang. The Shaker Hood is fully functional and attractive and by allowing more and cooler air in an engine, gives more power to the Mustang.
“Mustang is the heart and soul when it comes to driving performance parts business,” said Jamie Allison, Ford Racing Technology manager. “The parts for Mustang are grounded in championship-winning engineering and race-proven experience. They are the perfect platform for enthusiasts to customize, personalize and enhance their Mustangs for the street or track.”
