Record-breaking sales for Canadian-built Ford Edge
November Highlights:
- Overall Ford vehicle sales increased 1%
- Ford truck sales rose 6%
- Ford Escape sales increased 47%, setting a new record for the month
- Ford Taurus X realized a 34% sales increase last month
- Ford Edge sales were up 4%, its best November sales ever
- Ford Ranger sales rose 29%, a record-breaking performance
OAKVILLE, Ontario, December 2, 2008 – In the face of unprecedented market forces, vehicle sales at Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited increased 1.1 per cent in November, with a 5.8 per cent rise in Ford truck sales. These results were led by record-breaking sales of the Canadian-built Ford Edge, as well as by Ford Escape and Ford Ranger.
"At Ford, we have a plan for long-term success through a product-led transformation focused on industry-leading quality, fuel efficiency, safety and performance," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "We are delivering on that plan by building vehicles consumers want, with seven new model introductions over the next nine months. These new models are led by 2010 Fusion, which will deliver unsurpassed fuel economy versus segment leaders."
On the safety front, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States recently awarded Ford, including Volvo products, more 'Top Safety Pick' ratings than any other manufacturer.
In November, Ford of Canada's overall sales increased 1.1 per cent to 16,144 units. Total truck sales were up 5.8 per cent at 12,737 units and total car sales of 3,407 units mark a 13.4 per cent decrease compared to last November.
