Broadsides & Handbills:

Broadsides and handbills, single sheets of paper printed on one side only, were a popular information medium in the nineteenth century.  Broadsides were commonly posted on buildings, fences or poles, while handbills were passed around like fliers.  Examples in the museum's collection range in date from the mid-eighteenth to the early twentieth century.  They deal with a variety of subjects: politics, civic events, advertising and public notices.
