Subsidiary Companies (1886-1955):

Henry Ford's manufacturing goal was to control every part of the production and distribution aspects of his company.  This group of records relates to those companies established by Ford to facilitate those functions.  They deal with a variety of subjects including the acquisition of raw materials such as coal, lumber and cotton as well as real estate, publishing, construction, education and training, aircraft, railroads, dealerships, and farms. They contain correspondence, financial reports, summary reports, proceedings, meeting minutes, and tax records.   Of particular interest are the records of the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton Railroad, Dearborn Reality and Construction Company, The Dearborn Publishing Company, C.E. Johnansson Inc., and the Allegheny Plate Glass Co.
